    Description

1949 St. Louis Cardinals Team Signed Get Well Card to Gabby Street. Gabby Street figured largely into the history of St. Louis and its beloved Cardinals, serving the club in the capacities of catcher, manager and broadcaster in the days after he left the baseball diamond. His days as a skipper even produced a World Series win for the club in 1931. In the years after WWII his commentary in the radio booth helped pave the way for his young colleague, Harry Caray. Street would fall ill in 1949, though, a victim of a cancer that he would eventually overcome. From that year we present this fabulous Get Well card presented to Street, signed by the players and employees of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Club. The club's devotion to the man is obvious, as over 55 have checked in with elegant fountain ink signatures. Highlights include Caray, Joe Garagiola, Stan Musial, Enos Slaughter, Harry Brecheen, Red Schoendienst, Eddie Dyer, Terry Moore, Marty Marion, and many more. Card has been dated "May 28th, 1949" and glued to a piece of cardboard to the dimensions of 9.5 x 11.5". Comes with LOA from a member of the Street family. JSA Auction LOA.
