1949 Independence (KS) Yankees Signed Photograph with Mickey Mantle. Two years before the Mick would first step onto the hallowed baseball grounds of the Bronx he was already wearing the pinstripes of the Independence (KS) Yankees, where he would bat .313 with seven homers and sixty-three runs batted in to guide the club to the Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri League Championship. That's the future legend kneeling at far right and, comically, the only kid to blink when the photographer snapped the shutter. Each player has signed his image with varying strengths, but Mantle's boyish signature in the rarest of early formats is a magnificent 9/10. The photo derives from the personal collection of Bob Wiesler, who rookied with Mantle for the 1951 New York Yankees and stands fourth from the right in the 8x10" photo. His 2003 signed letter of provenance accompanies. Photo exhibits mild edge wear but otherwise presents as NRMT. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
