    Description

1948 Branch Rickey Signed Contract Cover Letter to Gil Hodges. Exciting correspondence connects two legends of dem Bums, one a Hall of Fame immortal, the other (in the eyes of many) a glaring Cooperstown oversight. We can see that the original text of the typed page was updated by hand, changing Hodges' salary for the 1948 season from $5,000 to $6,000, and thus this page was never mailed. Nonetheless, it was signed by Rickey in 8/10 blue ink at the close. The single page of Brooklyn Dodgers team letterhead is effectively pristine, without even a mailing/storage fold to note. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
