    Description

1948 Bowman Phil Rizzuto #8 Baseball Card, Signed. Phil "The Scooter" Rizzuto played his entire sixteen-season career at shortstop (1941 to 1956) with the New York Yankees. Rizzuto earned MVP honors in 1950 giving the Yankees their second straight pennant that year by batting a robust .324. Rizzuto led the American League in double plays, fielding percentage and putouts multiple times during his career. Rizzuto played a pivotal role in earning the Yankees ten AL titles (in thirteen seasons) and nine World Series (winning seven). The Scooter holds numerous World Series records for shortstops. After retiring from playing baseball, Phil stayed close to his pinstriped past while serving as a radio and television announcer for the Yankees making him a New York legend. Rizzuto was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994. The offered 1948 Bowman baseball card displays a very sharp, black felt-tip marker signature. The card itself is a very clean PSA EX-MT 6 example, and the signature presents at the 9/10 level.
