    Description

1948 Babe Ruth Signed First Edition of "The Babe Ruth Story", PSA/DNA Mint 9. Bob Considine's famous biography, "The Babe Ruth Story," debuted just weeks before the Bambino succumbed to throat cancer, making signed copies particularly poignant and desirable collectibles. Though the book closes with the Babe's pledge to regain his health and continue his work as an ambassador of the game he loved and dominated, it sadly was not to be, and as such very few signed examples of this collectible book are to be found.

This hardcover first edition with original dust jacket is signed on the title page by Ruth in bold blue 9.5/10 ink. The dust jacket shows obvious wear and has spots of paper loss but still looks spectacular. This lot is accompanied by two photos of Ruth with Claire Trever, the actress who played the part of his wife Claire in the 1948 film "The Babe Ruth Story," and also a photo of Ruth's former publicist who was the original owner of this book. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, Mint 9. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
