1948 Babe Ruth Photograph Signed One Month Before His Death. The greatest home run artist in the history of the game became a member of the Angels, so to speak, on August 16, 1948, just a month after he signed the presented photo for a fan. Despite the great suffering the dying Babe endured in the final months of his life, his dedication to the game and his legions of supporters never waned, and his hand remained firm as he penned the 9/10 black fountain pen inscription, "To Ray Treimer From Babe Ruth 7-15-48." Apparently Ruth misspelled the recipient's name, and another hand corrects the spelling. The rest of the inscription, and the autograph, remain untouched. A top-quality example by any metric, this specimen is elevated to the upper reaches of Ruth signed photos by its special vintage. One of the very last autographs ever signed by the noble Bambino. Photo measures 7.5x9.5". One light wrinkle only apparent upon close inspection, otherwise appearance is effectively NRMT. JSA suggests the signature has been enhanced in an unknown hand. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
