1947 Mel Ott Handwritten Signed Letter. The thirty-eight year old slugger would hang up his bat after appearing in just four games this season, turning his attentions entirely toward his New York Giants managerial duties. Showing the good nature that made him as much a fan favorite as his 511 career home runs, Ott makes use of a rain day to pen a note to a young fan: "Dear Jack-- I just heard you were a Giant fan, so I thought I'd drop you a note on this rainy day. We're always glad to hear from our young Giant fans. Maybe you will be at the Polo Grounds for some of our games, if you are come down and say hello. Mel Ott." All ink, including closing signature, is 9/10. Page measures 5x6.5" and exhibits center mailing fold and toning on the lower edge, neither of which are of any concern. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
