1947 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. His storied career behind him and his health in steady decline, the Babe nonetheless remained a faithful servant to the game that had established him as one of the most famous men on Earth. He was the main attraction at an "American Legion Junior Baseball Nite" in Indianapolis when he penned one of the boldest black ink signatures we've ever encountered on horsehide to a member of the hometown club. Ruth's signature dominates the side panel of the creamy white OAL (Harridge) ball, while an unknown hand assigns the ball on the sweet spot "To Bob Davis 1947, Indpls 'All-Star' Legion Junior Baseball." The ball is housed in its original (tattered) box and is accompanied by an official program for the August 4, 1947 event, picturing Ruth on the cover and listing Davis as an infielder for the Indianapolis All-Stars at center. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
