    Description

1944 World Series Game Used Baseball Signed by McGowan. A "Subway Series" of a different sort, as the Fall Classic headed west for six games at the shared Sportsman's Park home of the Cardinals and Browns. The offered OAL (Harridge) ball shows use from this wartime Series, and bears a sweet spot notation that reads, "All St. Louis World Series 1944 Umpires." And sure enough, filling the side panels are seven of the men in black that called the balls, strikes and outs that October. Most notable is the legendary Bill McGowan, a tough Hall of Fame autograph that books for a conservative $450 on an index card. Former 1927 Yankees pitcher George Pipgras is just below. All signatures rate a strong EX or better, with McGowan a legitimate NRMT. LOA from PSA/DNA.
