    Description

1944 Rogers Hornsby Single Signed Baseball. Between 1920 and 1925, this St. Louis Cardinals legends enjoyed an unbroken reign as the batting champion of the National League, averaging a staggering .397 during that span of a half dozen seasons. Two decades later he honored a fan's request for an autograph, applying a 9/10 ink autograph to the side panel of an ONL (Frick) ball notated on the side panel in an unknown hand to suggest it saw action in a Cubs/Giants contest on July 9, 1944. The experts have ruled that the first letter and the underscore in Hornsby's autograph are enhanced, but the rest of the signature untouched. Shellac coating has served its purpose well but has toned the ball to an amber shade. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
