1943 Johnny Evers Handwritten Signed Note. It may be a short note, but you can't beat the content of this tough offering from the Chicago Cubs' diminutive second baseman. Evers begins with the "Sept. 2/43" date, going on to write, "To my good friend and admirer Sam Rex with kindest personal regards, John J. Evers, 'Tinker to Evers to Chance.' P.S. Sorry I have not autographs of Tinker or Chance for you, J.E." With essentially three autographs of sorts, and two mentions of his Hall of Fame teammates from the storied Cubs double play combination, this is a piece that goes well beyond the norm for the cultured autograph collector. The black fountain pen ink presents at a strength of 8/10, and the 5x8" blank tan page exhibits original storage folds but no flaws of note. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication. Guide Value or Estimate: $600 - $800.
