    Description

1942 Gary Cooper & Christy Walsh Signed "The Pride of the Yankees" Photograph. The great successes of his life and his brave journey into death elevated the Iron Horse to the upper reaches of the game's pantheon, his story inspiring one of the most celebrated sports films in Hollywood history the year after his passing. Here we present a great photo snapped on the set, inscribed by the famous actor playing the Iron Horse, and Gehrig's former agent. A pair of 9/10 black fountain pen inscriptions read, "My best wishes to Fanny Barrow, Gary Cooper," and "Mine too, Christy Walsh, 1942." The original owner of the 7.5x10.5" photo was the wife of Hall of Fame New York Yankees executive Ed Barrow. Light wear at the wide borders of the photo, otherwise no issues of note. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
