    1942 Babe Ruth Signed Photograph to Fellow "The Pride of the Yankees" Cast Member. Though it has been well-documented that Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig shared a rocky relationship throughout their historic years in the Bronx, the tragic news of the Iron Horse's illness buried any hatchets that remained between them. In a final tribute to his teammate, Ruth appeared as himself in the biopic that is ranked by many as the greatest sports film of all time, and which served to further elevate Gehrig in the pantheon of the game's legendary figures. The provided photograph finds Ruth posing with actor Vernon Rickard, who played a fellow Yankee in the film. It is inscribed in 9/10 black fountain pen ink, "To My Pal Vernon From Babe Ruth." The 5.75x9.5" photo has been mounted upon a cardboard backing and exhibits no distracting flaws. Also included is a 4.5x6.5" snapshot, presumably also from Rickard's collection, picturing the actor with another Yankees Hall of Famer, catcher Bill Dickey. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
