1940 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Signed Miniature Bat. Steeltown artifact has a charming folk art appearance, as the apparently handmade miniature bat (11.5" in length) does not appear to have been professionally manufactured. Coating its surface are approximately twenty-five autographs, with all noteworthy figures rating 7/10 or better, and none dipping below 5/10. While Pirates legends like Honus Wagner, Arky Vaughan and Paul Waner are here to represent Steeltown, several of the autographs can be attributed to Philadelphia clubs, notably Connie Mack (enhanced) and the very tough Chuck Klein. A carved date of "3/14/40" would suggest a Spring Training congregation of Pennsylvania ballclubs. Certainly a one of a kind piece, with no shortage of top talent. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
