    Description

1940-50 Ted Williams Signed Type I Photographs Lot of 5. This is simply a great collection of early photographs of "The Splendid Splinter" from various personal photograph collections. A total of four original photos are present, with three signed, along with one unsigned photo and one signed cut. The earliest photograph measures 3x4.5" and pictures Williams posing with a young gal, inscribed on the front to "Mary Jane" in 7/10 ink and dated March 20, 1940 on the verso. A beautiful undated 3.5x5.5" real photo postcard of Williams is inscribed to "Chuck" in 8/10 ink with some smearing in the inscription. Although unmarked and undated, this appears to be a George Burke photo postcard from Williams' earliest days.

An undated 3x4.5" snapshot of Williams in the field has been signed in 9/10 ink with considerable creasing to the photo itself. Cut from a magazine, a small image of Williams has been attached to a piece of paper (4x6") along with a separate signed cut. The pencil signature rates an 8/10 with the cut itself in lower grade. Finally up in this lot is one additional, unsigned original photograph measuring 3x4" and showing Williams walking in street clothes, dated 1950 on the back. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
