    Description

1939 Ty Cobb Signed Baseball Centennial First Day Cover, PSA/DNA NM-MT 8. Ty Cobb worked his entire life to be first in everything he did. Even more than ninety years after he played his last ballgame, he is still first in career batting average. It is no wonder that the first bronze plaque in the Hall of Fame belongs to him as well. Elected in 1936, the Peach was present at Cooperstown for his induction on the same date as this cover is postmarked. He signs in his familiar green ink (8/10), between the magnificent three-cent centennial stamps and the awesome "Baseball, The King Of Sports" cachet. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, NM-MT 8.
