    Description

1939 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball with Authentic Gehrig. The dreadful diagnosis that explained Gehrig's sudden fall from the elite slugging ranks came early this season, and the fourth of July saw his brave and tearful farewell. While the eventual World Champs honored their captain by secretarially placing his autograph on all team spheres from that season, only a small handful were actually blessed by the dying Iron Horse's hand. We're pleased to present one from that small supply here. Appropriately positioned on the sweet spot of this "Official Joe DiMaggio League Ball," Lou is joined by twenty-two fellow Bombers, including DiMaggio, Gomez, Ruffing, Henrich, Crosetti and the man who would assume Gehrig's first base role after 2,130 consecutive games, Babe Dahlgren. Dickey and Selkirk are secretarial. Signature quality is a rather consistent 7/10, with only a few dipping a point or two below that mark. A few scattered spots of foxing cause little concern. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
