Autographed at the Grand Opening of the Baseball Hall of Fame!

1939 Honus Wagner, Babe Ruth & Ty Cobb Signed Original Artwork. It's quite simply one of the most desirable autographed artifacts to derive from baseball's fabled 1939 Centennial season, a relic that shared a brief moment with the three greatest living stars of the game on the date that each officially earned his immortality. A sleepy little town in upstate New York was transformed into the Mecca of our National Pastime on this day as the ribbon was cut on the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, the apocryphal birthplace of the sport and the hometown of its reputed inventor Abner Doubleday.

Programs, ticket stubs and first day covers have long represented the bulk of collectibles deriving from this important first day in the museum's history, and the few autographed examples to surface own residency at the top of the hierarchy. This thoroughly unique piece is one of our very favorites, a large (11x14") original artwork by Paul Seeback, cartoonist for the Brooklyn Eagle newspaper entitled "American Endowment." We aren't certain who or what the baby and dapper gentleman at the bottom of the design are meant to represent, but the three portraits at center should be familiar to all. Underscoring each image is a large and magnificently bold black fountain pen ink autograph, each among the finest exemplars we've encountered in any medium.

Assigning the delectable vintage to the piece is none other than the Babe himself, whose "June 12th 1939" notation appears in the lower right quadrant of the image in the iconic slugger's distinctive handwriting. A bit of edge and corner wear will be apparent in our catalog imagery, with chipping and a couple of thin tears, but it must be stressed that the autographs of Honus Wagner (PSA/DNA 8/10), Babe Ruth (PSA/DNA 10/10) and Ty Cobb (PSA/DNA 9/10) remain entirely untouched by these concerns. The piece is professionally matted and framed to final dimensions of 16.5x19". Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.

Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.
