1938 Pittsburgh Pirates Team Signed Baseball with Honus Wagner. This swashbuckling crew stood atop the National League heap from July 12th through September 27th, leading by as many as seven games during that stretch, before being nipped at the wire by the surging Chicago Cubs. Twenty-three signatures from these runners-up find a home on an OAL (Harridge) ball, almost as if to suggest that they should have visited the Bronx in October to use such a ball in the Series. All autographs project at a stunning 9/10 or better, and include many of the day's greatest figures: Wagner, both Waner brothers, Traynor, Manush and more. The ball shows apparent game use that clearly predates the autograph session. You'll rarely see prewar signed balls boasting autograph boldness such as this. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
