1938 New York Yankees vs. Chicago Cubs World Series Game Four Ticket Stub, Lou Gehrig's Final World Series, Signed by Henrich & Herman. It would be the last season for "Larrupin' Lou" Gehrig to lead the New York Yankees to the World Series before benching himself and retiring from baseball. The year is 1938 and the upstart Chicago Cubs are attempting to dethrone the two-time reigning champions in pinstripes. It was a team effort, but the Yanks strong leadership from Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio helped the squad defend their title with a four-games-to-none sweep. The Yankees would go on to win again in Gehrig's final season in 1939 for a fourpeat, but it would be without the quiet leader at first base. The offered ticket stub is the last World Series game in which Gehrig ever appeared, and has also been signed by two of the combatants: Tommy Henrich of the Yankees and the Cubs' Billy Herman. Both are sharp 9/10 signatures. The ticket itself remains in roughly torn condition as it was nearly eighty years ago, with slight paper loss along one edge on the back, and a light crease along the same edge on the front. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
