    Description

1938 Lou Gehrig Signed "Rawhide" Promotional Photograph to Earle Combs & His Sons. If you haven't yet seen the film, do yourself a favor and pick up the DVD. There's a reason why you don't see too many born-and-bred New Yorkers in musical cowboy flicks. But we'll forgive the horse-riding Iron Horse this one time, if for no other reason than this magnificent signed photo, one of the cleanest we've ever encountered from the Hall of Fame first baseman. Decked out in full cowboy regalia right down to the six-shooter on his hip, the superstar slugger strikes a pose next to a 9/10 black fountain pen inscription reading "To Earle, Charles & Donald, With my sincerest and best wishes always, Cordially, Lou Gehrig." The "Earle" in question, of course, is fellow Yankee and future Hall of Famer Earle Combs, adding yet another cause to celebrate this sepia image. Dimensions 7x9.5". Some border trimming is evident, but the image could easily be matted and framed to a NRMT appearance. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
