1937 Hilton Smith Signed Kansas City Monarchs Program. Magnificent Negro League artifact finds the 2001 Hall of Fame inductee at the height of his skills, representing the storied Kansas City Monarchs in a meeting with the Birmingham Black Barons. The tri-fold program aptly illustrates the second-class status of the League, with clipped box scoring rosters glued over the ones printed for the white American Association clubs. "Smith" is penciled in to the number nine spot in the batting order, stating that the legendary pitcher did indeed take the mound this day. But just as exciting is the 10/10 blue ink signature on the front cover from Smith, making this the only Negro League signed program we've ever seen from the star right-hander. The program itself exhibits expected edge wear, but remains solid and complete. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication. Guide Value or Estimate: $1,200 - $1,500.
