    Description

1935 Babe Ruth Signed Government Postcard. The Babe was perhaps the most generous signer in history, but only rarely do we find him in the coveted GPC format. This one, intriguingly, was sent to a young Bronx autograph collector just three days after Ruth's very last game, just after his return to Boston from Forbes Field where he launched three home runs to end his storied career with a fitting flourish. The Bambino's standard "Sincerely, Babe Ruth" inscription survives with unbeatable boldness, and is underscored with the original collector's somewhat outdated list of Ruth's career highlights (note 708 career home runs, for instance). The postcard has been slightly trimmed and bears a couple pieces of tape on verso from scrapbook adhesion, but such minor concerns must be ignored in light of the tremendous scarcity. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
