    Description

1934 Babe Ruth Signed Tour of Japan Photographs Lot of 7. His New York Yankees years behind him, and only the sad sideshow of a farewell season with the last place Boston Braves ahead, the great Bambino provided his final (and arguably his greatest) gift to the sport of baseball with his participation in the historic 1934 Tour of Japan. No other single endeavor has done so much to expand the reach of our National Pastime, and the journey continues to pay dividends three quarters of a century later as superstar talent like Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui make their marks in the Major Leagues. Artifacts deriving from this voyage across the Pacific hold special appeal to the educated collector, and rightfully so.

Always the most generous of signers, the Babe surely autographed thousands of 3.25 x 5" portraits for the teeming grandstands of Japanese baseball fans eager to see the most famous man in the world. These seven examples made it back to the States somehow, and are presented here for the dealer and investor alike. Each boasts a bold fountain pen ink signature in the white bottom margin, none falling below a very conservative 8.5/10 strength. The photos themselves exhibit no flaws of note. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
