1933-35 Walter Johnson Signed Photograph. Soulful photographic portrait of the game's silver medalist in career victories can be pegged to a three-year span during which the Big Train held the managerial reins of the Cleveland Indians. The image appears to be the work of noted photographer George Burke, whose trademark balance of light and shadow is in full effect here. A blue ink inscription, "Best Wishes, Walter Johnson," gets a bit lighter in the middle of "Wishes" and "Johnson," but the overall effect of the writing remains strong and would rate 9/10 without these lapses. The photo itself measures 7.5x9.5", apparently hand-trimmed of its borders, and is otherwise free of flaws beyond an all but imperceptible lower right corner bend. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
