1932-33 New York Yankees Signed Baseball with Ruth, Gehrig. At a dozen signers, this OAL (Harridge) ball doesn't quite meet the standard for "team signed" status, but the original collector clearly had a solid eye for talent, as more than half of the autographs derive from residents of Cooperstown. The Babe commands a full side panel and the sweet spot with his flawlessly bold blue fountain pen inscription that reads, "To Vernon Jewett From Babe Ruth." Just to his left are Gehrig, Joe Sewell, Bill Dickey, John Allen and Sam Byrd. Rounding out the cast: Nick Altrock, Lefty Gomez, Tony Lazzeri, Earl Combs, Frank Crosetti and Ben Chapman. Of the Hall of Famers, only Gomez (due to some surface wear) dips below 8/10 in strength. A mounting hole at the League stamping, a coating of shellac and general handling wear suggests that this ball was once affixed to a blotter or something of the sort, but these condition issues are primarily distanced from the autographs themselves. You'll be hard-pressed to find superior Ruth and Gehrig autographs together on horsehide. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
