    Description

1931 Walter Johnson Handwritten Signed Letter to Clyde Milan--Two Autographs! One dyed-in-the-wool Senator writes to another, on team letterhead. The inaugural class Hall of Famer sends a message to Milan about his old buddy's Birmingham Barons exploits in the Southern Association. "We watched your race down there and sure pulled for you, hardly a day passed with out one of our boys saying some thing about you and your club and they all pulled for you." Johnson also admits his difficulty in accepting his wife's death the previous year: "Children are all fine and I am always glad to get back but this is not like a home any more. When the children are in school I don't know what to do with myself." The two page letter concludes with a "Sincerely, Walter" and a short unsigned postscript. A second autograph appears on the included mailing envelope, in full "Walter Johnson" format. All ink is 9/10 or better. Pages exhibit original mailing folds but no other concerns. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
