    Description

1931 Robert "Lefty" Grove Signed Uniform Player's Contract, Triple Crown Season. Extraordinary relic is so thickly infused with world-class relevance that it's tough to know where to begin. The future Hall of Fame southpaw repeated his Pitching Triple Crown performance of the previous season with American League-topping tallies in victories (a career-best 31), earned run average (a career-low 2.06) and strike outs (175), while his Philadelphia Athletics claimed its third-straight American League pennant by a remarkable thirteen and a half games over Ruth and Gehrig's mighty Yanks. This standard contract dictates a $20,000 salary for the greatest arm of Depression-era ball, with splendid signatures from "John D. Shibe" and "Robert M. Grove" on page two signifying ownership and player agreement to terms. American League president Ernest Barnard signs the cover as well. The slightest bit of paper loss on back affects no writing and is mentioned only in the interest of full disclosure, otherwise no issues. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
