    Description

1931 Babe Ruth Signed Bat to New York Sportswriter. The Babe's brilliance on the field and gregarious nature off of it quite logically made him a favorite among the writers on the sports beat, and the presented relic stands in evidence of that fruitful symbiosis between ballplayer and reporter. The presented thirty-one inch Draper & Maynard bat was rather wisely coated in silver paint before its meeting with the Yankees legend, whose black fountain pen ink contrasts wonderfully against the altered surface. With 9/10 boldness, he addresses a Big Apple sportswriter, "To Joseph James Bihler, Best wishes, From Babe Ruth, Jan 22 - 1931." While signed lumber does, on rare occasion, surface within the auction circuit, the result is almost never as attractive as it appears here. A wonderful and unique item that should bring the most ardent Ruth autograph collectors into bidding competition. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
