1930's Branch Rickey Signed Vintage Photograph. Although best known for breaking the MLB color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson, Branch Rickey was actually involved in baseball from the turn of the century and gave more to the game than just the (highly significant) integration. As a player, he represented the New York Highlanders from 1905-07, played professional football for the Shelby Blues, went back to college, then returned to MLB in 1913. He was a manager and executive for five different teams over the next several decades, and among his other accomplishments were the signing of the first Hispanic African-American (Roberto Clemente), creating the modern minor league system, introducing the batting helmet, and seeking expansion of Major League Baseball.

The offered photograph is a vintage Type I 8x10 with moderate silvering on the edges, and is stamped "Brookner" in the bottom right. Rickey has added his signature across his suit jacket in vintage fountain pen rating an 8/10. A nice early signature of this HOFer and four-time World Champion. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
