1930 Herb Pennock Signed New York Yankees Uniform Player's Contract. The Iron Horse and the Bambino may have gotten all the press back in these days, but you don't win games on slugging alone. Here we find a key component for the first great era of pinstriped dominance, the big southpaw who joined Ruth for each of his Yankees World Championships and for Cooperstown immortality too. Nicknamed the Knight of Kennett Square, Pennock signs on the third page of the contract along with his handwritten "Kennett Square, Pa" address, accepting a $15,000 salary and a bonus of $500 for each victory over fifteen for the 1930 season. The Jacob Ruppert signature just above Pennock's is actually Ed Barrow's skilled forgery, with E.S. Barnard's autograph on the cover of the contract bringing the Hall of Fame tally to three (though Barrow never signs for himself). All ink is 9+/10, and the contract exhibits original storage folds but no other issues of note. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
