1928 New York Yankees & Philadelphia Athletics Signed Baseball with Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb. Excluding All-Star events, we believe that a meeting of the 1928 New York Yankees and Philadelphia Athletics would result in the greatest population of future Hall of Famers ever to share a single playing field. The original owner of this remarkable OAL (Johnson) ball was a lucky witness to such a majestic event, leaving behind an absolutely staggering relic of his multiple brushes with greatness. Of the eighteen black fountain pen ink signatures preserved beneath the amber coating of shellac, an even dozen would one day be enshrined at Cooperstown. The iconic cast of characters: Ruth (8/10), Gehrig (8/10), Cobb (8/10), Speaker (8/10), Foxx (7/10), Huggins (6/10), Lazzeri (7/10), Combs (8/10), Grove (8/10), Pennock (9/10), Simmons (7/10), Hoyt (9/10). The very tough Eddie Bennett (7/10), the hunchbacked bat boy who served as Babe Ruth's lucky charm, is here as well. One of the most impressive autographed baseballs we've encountered in some time. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
