1928 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball. Just two and a half weeks after the Babe smashed three home runs in Game Four of the World Series to complete a sweep of the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals, he and his sidekick Lou Gehrig were back on the Bustin' Babes vs. Larrupin' Lous barnstorming trail that they had begun a season earlier following yet another dominant October. We've seen several of these "Harwood's National League Ball" models from that celebrated tour, so our suspicion is that these are the balls that were utilized in those exhibition games. Ruth's sweet spot offering is just a hair short of utter perfection, rating a bona fide 9/10 between the red and blue stitching that perfectly mimics OAL balls of the day. Gehrig is a point or two lighter to Ruth's left, still wonderfully bold and positioned so that both signatures could be displayed simultaneously. The handwritten date on lower panel is inked by an unknown party, almost certainly the original owner of this important high-grade relic. According to the PSA letter the "Oct. 28, 1928" has been written and traced in an unknown hand. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
