    Description

1927 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. Always desirable in any incarnation, the offered Ruth single is a particular treat for its ideal historical positioning, dating to the most spectacular season in both the career of the Bambino and the history of the New York Yankees franchise he personified. A sprawling inscription from the staggering sixty home run World Championship season reads, "To Walter Kulzer From 'Babe' Ruth 1927." The inscription rates approximately 5/10, with the "1927" date later enhanced by another hand, but certified by James Spence as having been originally penned by Ruth himself. All other writing is untouched since the Babe applied it. The medium is an OAL (Johnson) ball, the ideal format for period Ruth singles. A light coating of shellac gives the horsehide a distinctive sheen. Included is a notarized letter of provenance from a ninety-three year old Walter Phelps, who has owned the special baseball all of these years and now passes it on to one lucky winning bidder. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. JSA Auction LOA.
