1927 "Babe" Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball. Just eight days after completing a four-game World Series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates to conclude the greatest season in New York Yankees history, the two greatest heroes of Murderer's Row faced off as leaders of battling barnstorming teams in Omaha, Nebraska. Presented is an "Official League Ball" signed for one of the spectators that day, with Ruth rating 8/10 in his standard sweet spot position and Gehrig to the south at a strength of 6/10. The date is written just below in an unknown hand. Included in the lot are five fantastic period 8x10" photos snapped that day as Ruth and Gehrig met a famous Omaha chicken which had displayed a Gehrig-like consistency of laying an egg a day for more than six months straight (though, oddly, the chicken was named "Babe Ruth" instead). Three of the five picture Ruth and Gehrig, and all are slightly curled by age but could be framed to a NRMT appearance. Also here is a 2002 article in the Omaha World-Standard recounting that memorable day. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
