1926 Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, Ty Cobb & More Signed Baseball. Our best guess at the genesis of this remarkable sphere is a Christy Walsh promotion at the 1926 World Series, where Ruth's Yankees would be denied their second World Championship by Grover Cleveland Alexander and the rest of the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals. Walsh, recognized as the first sports agent, represented many of the greatest stars of our National Pastime, and the names on the provided sphere bear a close resemblance to his roster of clients. It's an OAL (Johnson) sphere, the ideal medium for the assembly, pairing the greatest slugger and pitcher of the era on the sweet spot: Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson. Cobb brings the tally of inaugural class Hall of Fame inductees to three, and Tris Speaker makes it a foursome. Other signers: Goslin, Harris, Sewell, Hadley, Ruel and Peckinpaugh. The year "1926" is penned in an unknown hand. The ten autographs survive in remarkably fine condition, a conservative average of 8/10 that may creep closer to 9/10. The cast and condition establish this as one of the most desirable multi-signed spheres to surface on the hobby's auction block in some time. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
