    Description

1924 Ty Cobb Handwritten & Signed Letter Regarding World Series. While the Georgia Peach was quite generous with his correspondence during his retirement years, the availability of playing-days letters remains comparatively minuscule. This is a particularly attractive example of such, penned on Detroit Tigers team letterhead and referencing an impending Fall Classic that would gain immortality for providing Walter Johnson his sole World Championship. The text, in its entirety:

"Sept-23-24, Dear Helen--I am going to be in Washington soon so write me here c/o Baseball Club at once your friends name and address telephone number etc. for I might be there during series and have an extra ticket and will take her to game. Best to all pardon haste, Ty."

All writing is in Cobb's hand and rates 9+/10. Page exhibits original mailing folds and appears to have been trimmed at lower edge, but otherwise presents perfectly. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
