1923 Ty Cobb Signed Letter. A baseball historian in search of a project would be the ideal new owner for this somewhat mysterious letter mailed to a Detroit News journalist by that city's superstar outfielder. The typed letter consents to doing some form of story with the journalist, but then explains "I feel that I can do better by waiting until Spring. Then there is another proposition, I must shake this fellow Walsh in some way. He has certainly been after me of late, and I am, in a way, duty bound to get rid of him in a nice way..." The single page on Cobb's elegant letterhead is signed in 9/10 blue fountain pen ink at the close. Original mailing folds, otherwise NRMT. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
