1923 John McGraw & Christy Walsh Signed Book. A good friend of famed sports agent Christy Walsh was the beneficiary of one of the coolest gifts any man could get, an autographed first edition of Hall of Fame New York Giants manager John McGraw's brand-new autobiography "My Thirty Years in Baseball." And this isn't just any signed book, as Walsh explains with his own lengthy inscription. "Gene--This is the book I promised you. Mr. McGraw signed it in the Giants Club house today and I want you to know that you own the first book given by Mr. McGraw or autographed by him to anyone. Ask Bill Arronson. Many thanks for your cheerful way of 'pulling together.' Yours, Christy Walsh, May 1, 1923." One the next page we find it, a simple inscription from Little Napoleon, reading "To Gene Boyd From John J. McGraw." Both Walsh's and McGraw's fountain pen ink survive at an impressive 9/10. The book itself has seen its share of hardships, however, with the front cover and the first few pages detached from the spine. Everything is here, however, and the all-important handwriting is not disturbed. Even better, the two inscriptions appear on facing pages, making synchronous display possible.
