    Description

1919-21 Everett Scott Signed American League Player's Contract--Consecutive Games Streak was Broken by Lou Gehrig. We all know it was Gehrig's record that Cal Ripken, Jr. broke to become Major League Baseball's most dependable employee, but only the true baseball historian could name the man from whom the Iron Horse claimed the record. It was, in fact, a man with whom Gehrig shared a dugout as a rookie and a Red Sox teammate of Babe Ruth during those final World Championships before the "Curse," shortstop Everett Scott. Here we find an executed contract covering the final three seasons of Scott's Fenway tenure before he rejoined the Babe in the Big Apple. The standard American League Player's Contract stipulates a salary of $5,000 per season, and is signed by Scott, future Hall of Fame executive Ed Barrow, and the most hated man in Boston baseball history, team owner Harry Frazee. Each of these black fountain pen signatures presents at 8/10 boldness. Contract exhibits original storage folds but no other issues worthy of note. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
