1916 Joe Tinker Signed Letter on Chicago Whales (Federal League) Letterhead. We all know that the rogue Federal League lasted just two seasons before financial insolvency sent it the way of the dodo, but until now we never knew just how sudden was the demise. Only a month before the 1916 was to start (February 28), Tinker sent this brief typed letter on the team's delightful official letterhead to an acquaintance, advising "Kindly get in touch with me when the season opens, and I will be glad to take this matter up with you." Ultimately Charles Weeghman, who had built a new stadium for his Federal League team now known as Wrigley Field, was able to purchase the Chicago Cubs and merged the two teams, so perhaps Tinker is discussing the start of the National League season instead. Page exhibits original mailing folds with minor separation and minimal staining. Signature rates 8/10. Original mailing envelope is present. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
