    Description

1911 Ban Johnson Signed Letter. Intriguing letter appears to address the possibility of an All-Star Game, a baseball tradition which was still twenty-two years in the future when this letter was mailed. Johnson writes, in part, "There can be no objection on the part of the American League in the arrangement of such a series of games between picked teams from the National and American League." Though Johnson was known to have opposed the Addie Joss Memorial Benefit Game contested less than a month before this letter's date, one can't help but wonder if the success of the event, often called the first All-Star Game due to its outrageous Dead Ball talent, softened his stance. An historic letter autographed in 7/10 black fountain pen ink at the close. Single typed page on American League letterhead exhibits age tanning, most notably a thin stripe down the center of the page which has no effect upon the closing signature. Original mailing folds, but no creasing or tearing. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
