1910's Hobart "Hobey" Baker Cut Signature Card from The Broderick Collection, PSA/DNA Authentic. Widely recognized as the first American star of ice hockey, Hobey Baker made a name for himself on the rink and the gridiron while attending Princeton University. During WWI, Baker served with the 103rd and the 13th Aero Squadrons and was later promoted to captain and commander of the 141st Squadron. While flying a plane during a test run in 1918, Baker crashed and was killed at the age of twenty-six.

In his 1920 novel, This Side of Paradise, F. Scott Fitzgerald based the character Allen on Baker. Princeton would name their hockey arena "The Hobey Baker Memorial Rink." In 1980, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) named their annual award for the best collegiate hockey player the "Hobey Baker Award." When the Hockey Hall of Fame was introducing its inaugural class of athletes in 1945, Hobart Baker was among the nine names, next to legends Howie Morenz and Georges Vezina.

This full "Hobart A. H. Baker" signature strongly suggests its origin was some type of formal document, and this is the only Baker representation to sell at public auction since this very example commanded $14,000 nearly a decade ago. The black fountain pen ink beauty registers at a strength of 8/10. The remainder of The Broderick Collection will be auctioned in the GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET
