    Description

1901 Bob Fitzsimmons Signed Physical Culture and Self-Defense. He was one of the hardest-hitting pugilists of the nineteenth century prize ring, his powerful upper body sculpted in the sweltering air of his New Zealand blacksmith's shop. He earned his first world title from Jack (Nonpareil) Dempsey in 1891, knocking him down thirteen times and injuring his opponent so badly that Fitzsimmons begged him to quit, unsuccessfully, finally knocking out the deposed Champ and then carrying him to his corner. Ultimately he would become World Champion in the Middleweight, Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions, and is recognized as number eight in Ring Magazine's list of boxing's best punchers. One of the toughest boxing signatures there is Fitzsimmons has signed the interior cover page of this book in blue steel-tip ink with graphite tracing in an unknown hand. Moderate-to-heavy wear exhibited throughout Physical Culture and Self-Defense. Spine is partially detached and signed page is no longer affixed to the binding. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA. by PSA/DNA
