    Description

    1887 Alexander Cartwright Handwritten & Signed Receipt, PSA/DNA NM-MT 8. A small captioned image affixed at lower right tells the tale: "Pioneer, Established basic rules of the game in 1845. Organized first baseball team in 1845. Umpired first recorded game." After his seminal contributions to the birth of the sport, Cartwright moved to Hawaii, from whence this 2.5x6.5" receipt derives. All writing, and Cartwright's gorgeous signature, is applied in 9/10 red ink. Receipt is partially affixed to a collector's index card, and slabbed in a PSA/DNA capsule for protection and unquestioned authenticity. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, NM-MT 8. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
