    Description

1879 Abner Doubleday Handwritten Signed Album Page.
Whether or not Doubleday was the true Father of Baseball is a matter of dispute, but his supreme relevance to the game's early development most certainly is not, nor is the enormous appeal of any relic touched by his hand. Here we present a flawless album page, reading:

    "Mendham, N.J.
    Nov 13th 1879
    Abner Doubleday
    Ret. Major General
    U.S. Army
    Late Major General of Vols."

The single unlined page measures 3x5" with rounded corners and is signed "Abner Doubleday" in the same 7-8/10 black fountain pen ink that comprises all writing. Page exhibits no distractions on the front, the reverse shows small areas when the page was once attached to a larger piece of paper. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
