    Description

1860's General George Armstrong Custer Signed Envelope. The daring cavalry commander lost his life and gained his immortality as a victim of a massacre at the hands of a coalition of Lakota and Cheyenne Indians at Little Big Horn, Montana. The Sanders Autograph Price Guide lists this exceedingly rare signature at $2941 in their seventh edition of the volume. This envelope is addressed and effectively signed by the doomed legend in 9/10 black fountain pen ink. Rare signature variation of "Genl Custer," with "Mrs." preceding it (and easily matted out if desired) due to the envelope being mailed by Custer to his wife at home in the nation's capital. Envelope cut at right edge, well clear of all writing, but otherwise no condition concerns. Wax seal on verso. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
