1818 President James Monroe Signed Land Grant Document. The final founding father to serve as President of the United States, James Monroe was the fifth person to occupy the White House. Among the many roles he filled prior to this were Governor of Virginia, Senator, Diplomat to France, Secretary of State and Secretary of War. He also aided in the negotiation of the Louisiana Purchase.

The offered document is a Land Grant for the U.S. Army signed during Monroe's first term in office. Document measures 9.5x13.5" and is matted to 14.5x18.5." The matte is creased in one spot, and the document itself shows its age through numerous folds, creases and stains. The signature is a very bold 8/10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
