Description
1937-38 Indianapolis 500 Programs, Lot of 2. The 1937 Indianapolis 500 was the 25th edition of the Indianapolis 500 race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (postcard included). It took place on May 31, 1937, and featured 33 drivers competing for the victory. The race was won by Wilbur Shaw, an American driver who drove the No. 6 Gilmore Special, securing his first Indianapolis 500 win. Shaw would go on to win the race again in 1939 and 1940, becoming one of the most successful drivers in the history of the event.The 1938 Indianapolis 500 was the 26th edition of the iconic automobile race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race took place on May 30, 1938, and featured 33 drivers competing for the prestigious Borg-Warner Trophy. The event was won by Floyd Roberts, driving the No. 12 Miller-Offenhauser, securing his first and only victory at the Indianapolis 500. Tragically, Roberts lost his life later that year in a racing accident, making him the first Indianapolis 500 winner to die from injuries sustained in a race.
