Description

1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 PSA EX 5. Usually, the terms "1952 Topps Baseball" and "scarce high-number" are top selling points with little extra hype being necessary. But when the card is the most coveted post-war baseball card ever produced and it features one of the most All-American baseball superstars of all-time those selling points become mere footnotes. Just twenty years old at the time of issue, Mickey Mantle would become a baseball legend and national icon. Offered is his 1952 Topps entry, graded PSA EX 5. Make no mistake, the technical grade fails to do this card justice. "Excellent" may describe the physical condition based on the accepted grading scale but to factor in visual appeal as this is a great looking card for this grade level and you have a prime opportunity to acquire "near-mint" eye appeal at an excellent price.

The iconic portrait comes to life thanks to the deeply saturated hues and shiny gloss. In the nameplate, there is one very short surface impression about 3/16" long. There is one lone print imperfection in the blue sky backdrop seen in the upper left the other 99.99% of the portrait is blemish free. You will find wear at the corners and we find nothing of note about the back. The deal closer is the virtually perfect centering which in this market is such a pivotal part of the decision making process.
